Content Policy
Last updated
Summary (not legally binding). Jurvo is for real, everyday dilemmas with two clear options. Write about the people in your life by their role, never in a way that identifies them, and never to attack anyone. Do not post personal information, hate, harassment, explicit sexual content, anything that sexualizes or endangers minors, threats, illegal activity, spam or vote manipulation. If you are struggling, you will get support, not punishment. Automated checks and people review Cards, and breaking these rules can lead to removal, warnings, suspensions or a permanent ban. You can appeal by email. In a crisis, call or text 988.
1. What Jurvo is for
Link to this sectionThis Content Policy is part of the Terms of Service between you and PuredLab LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company (registration no. 0008109479) (we, us or our). It applies to everything you submit to Jurvo, including Cards and nicknames, whether you post publicly or anonymously. A Card is a dilemma with two options; a Vote is a choice between them; an Account is what you have once you sign in; and a Member is a person with an Account. These and other terms have the meanings given in the Terms.
Jurvo is for real dilemmas from your own life, framed as a choice between two options that strangers can judge. The people in your life, such as partners, family members, friends and coworkers, are part of most dilemmas, and you are welcome to describe what they did and what you are deciding. Refer to them by their role, such as "my sister" or "my manager", and never in a way that lets anyone work out who they are.
Every Card must:
- be about a dilemma you face or are directly involved in;
- offer two genuine options;
- be posted in good faith, not to deceive, provoke or hurt anyone; and
- follow the rest of this policy.
2. Real people: the identifiability and harassment line
Link to this sectionTwo things are never allowed:
- Identifying someone. Do not include anything that identifies a real person other than you: a name, a username or social media handle, a photo or a link to one, a workplace or school together with other details, an address, or a description specific enough that people who know them would recognize them.
- Targeting someone. Do not use a Card to attack, shame, expose, humiliate or get back at anyone, or to rally people against them, even without naming them.
Mentioning a public figure, a business or a brand as part of your own dilemma is fine, for example when you are choosing between two concerts. Asking people to judge, rate, mock or attack a real person is not, and neither is asking people to rate anyone's looks, body or worth.
3. Personal information
Link to this sectionDo not post personal information, yours or anyone else's. That includes email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, Social Security numbers and other government ID numbers, financial account details, passwords, social media handles, links to profiles, and precise locations.
Our automated filters refuse a Card that contains an email address or a U.S. Social Security number in its usual written form. They hold a Card for review by a person if it contains a phone number, a street address, a web link or a social media handle, and a held Card is published only if a moderator approves it. The filters do not catch everything, so the responsibility stays with you.
4. Hate and harassment
Link to this sectionDo not post content that attacks, demeans or dehumanizes people because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, serious illness, or immigration or veteran status. Do not use slurs. Do not bully, harass, intimidate or insult anyone, including other Members, and do not encourage others to do so. You may discuss a dilemma that touches on these subjects, as long as you do so respectfully.
5. Sexual content
Link to this sectionYou can ask about relationships, dating, intimacy and sex in plain, non-graphic language. Do not post sexually explicit descriptions, pornography, sexual solicitation or offers of sexual services, or sexual content about a real, identifiable person. Some explicit words cause a Card to be held for review by a person.
Never post, link to or describe an intimate image or video of anyone shared without their consent, whether it is real or AI-generated. If this has happened to you, use our Intimate Image Removal process.
6. Minors
Link to this sectionJurvo is only for adults, and we have zero tolerance for content that sexualizes, exploits or endangers minors.
- Parenting dilemmas are welcome. Dilemmas about your own decisions as a parent, guardian, caregiver or relative are allowed, as long as no child can be identified from the Card. Do not include a child's name, photo, school, location or other identifying details, and do not share anything private about a child that could embarrass or harm them.
- No other Cards about minors. Apart from those dilemmas, do not post Cards about minors, and never ask people to judge a child.
- Never post, link to, describe or ask for sexual content involving a minor, content that sexualizes a minor in any way, or content that grooms, exploits or endangers a minor. If we find it, we remove it, permanently ban the Account, preserve the content and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as federal law requires.
7. Suicide and self-harm
Link to this section- If you are struggling, you will get support, not punishment. A vote from strangers is not the right response to someone who may be in crisis, so we do not allow Cards that suggest the writer is thinking about suicide or self-harm. Our crisis-language check (section 14.1) is designed to catch these Cards before they are published, and when it does, the App shows the writer support resources instead. When we find such a Card in another way, we stop it from being published or remove it, and, if we can reach you by email, we send you the support resources in section 18. This never counts against your Account: if reports about such a Card lowered your standing (section 14.1), we restore it.
- Do not encourage, instruct or glorify self-harm, suicide or disordered eating, and do not dare or pressure anyone to harm themselves. This is one of the most serious violations, and it can lead to an immediate permanent ban.
- If you are worried about yourself or someone else, see section 18.
8. Threats and violence
Link to this sectionDo not threaten anyone, directly or indirectly, including as a "joke". Do not encourage, glorify or celebrate violence, or praise violent attacks or the people who carry them out. Do not post content that promotes terrorism or violent extremism. Threats can lead to an immediate permanent ban, and we may report them to law enforcement.
9. Illegal activity
Link to this sectionDo not use Jurvo to promote, plan, facilitate or ask for help with illegal activity, such as selling drugs, weapons or stolen goods, fraud, hacking or stalking. You may ask for opinions about a lawful choice that has a legal side to it, such as whether to report something to the police, but a Verdict is not legal advice (Terms section 9).
10. Spam, scams and manipulation
Link to this section- No spam, advertising, promotions, referral codes or links meant to drive traffic.
- No scams, phishing, or attempts to get money or information from people.
- No manipulation of Votes or Verdicts. Do not coordinate Votes with others, vote from several Accounts or Guest sessions, use bots or scripts, or recruit people to vote on your own Card while it is open.
- One Account per person. No fake Accounts.
- Do not post the same Card, or nearly the same Card, again and again.
11. Impersonation and nicknames
Link to this section- Do not pretend to be another person, a business, an organization or a member of the Jurvo team, and do not misrepresent who you are.
- Nicknames must follow this whole policy. They must not impersonate anyone or contain anyone's real full name (including yours), contact details or other personal information, slurs, hate, sexual terms or threats.
- Nicknames are not checked automatically. If yours breaks these rules, we may require you to change it, or change or remove it ourselves (Terms section 4.5).
12. Intellectual property
Link to this sectionPost only content that you have the right to post. Do not copy other people's writing, song lyrics or other copyrighted material beyond short quotations, and do not use other people's trademarks in a misleading way. To report infringement, use our Copyright Policy.
13. Cards written by Jurvo
Link to this sectionSome Cards are written by our team, sometimes with help from AI tools, and a person on our team approves each one before it can appear. We use them only to fill places in the daily set that Members' Cards leave empty, mixed in with Members' Cards, under nicknames that we created or as "Anonymous". Those nicknames do not belong to real Members, and we do not label these Cards one by one. They never appear in lists or the archive. Every Vote on them is cast by a person using the App, as on every other Card. Cards written by our team follow this policy too.
14. How moderation works
Link to this section14.1 Automated checks
Link to this sectionBefore a Member's Card is published, automated checks look at it:
- The personal information filter (section 3) refuses some Cards and holds others for a person to review. It also holds Cards that contain certain explicit words.
- The account's standing. Cards from accounts with a low standing score, for example after confirmed violations, are held for review by a person before they are published.
- The crisis-language check looks for phrases suggesting that the writer may be thinking about suicide or self-harm. We switch on its list of phrases only after qualified experts have reviewed it, and until then it does not match anything. When it matches, the Card is not published, the writer sees support resources, and nothing is recorded against the writer's Account.
Most Members' Cards are published right after these checks. The rest wait until a moderator approves or rejects them. Cards written by our team do not go through these checks; a person on our team approves each one instead (section 13).
Reports can also act automatically. The App has no report button yet, but our service accepts reports sent directly from signed-in Members' accounts. When a published Card receives a set number of those reports, it is hidden automatically, its author's standing score goes down, and a moderator reviews it and decides whether it comes back. Fewer reports are needed when the author's standing score is lower. If the moderator finds that the Card suggests its writer is thinking about suicide or self-harm, we remove it and restore the standing the reports cost (section 7).
14.2 Review by people
Link to this sectionOur moderators review held Cards and reported Cards, and they may review any Card at any time, including after it is published. They see the Card and a short anonymous reference to its author, not the author's nickname, email address or date of birth. A person on our team decides every warning, suspension and ban. We do not review every Card before it is published, and we cannot catch everything, so reports help.
14.3 Not available yet: AI-assisted moderation
Link to this sectionOur systems do not send Cards to any AI service today. If we start using AI to help review Cards, we will update this policy and our Privacy Policy first (Privacy Policy section 9.1). Even then, an AI result will not be able to publish a Card that our other checks refuse.
15. Enforcement
Link to this sectionWe have no tolerance for objectionable content, meaning anything this policy prohibits, or for abusive users. Depending on how serious a violation is, and on the account's history, we may:
- refuse, hold, hide or remove the Card or other content;
- give a warning;
- suspend the Account for 1 day;
- suspend the Account for 7 days;
- ban the Account permanently; and
- preserve content and report it to law enforcement or, where the law requires, to NCMEC.
For most violations, we usually respond to a first confirmed violation with a 1-day suspension, a second with a 7-day suspension and a third with a permanent ban, and we may start with a warning when a violation is minor. For the most severe violations, such as content that sexualizes a minor, threats of violence, or encouraging others to harm themselves, we may ban the Account permanently straight away and preserve the content for legal review. A person decides each step, so we may skip or repeat steps when a case calls for it. While an Account is suspended or banned, it cannot post Cards or Vote, and a person we have banned may not create a new Account (Terms section 2).
16. Appeals
Link to this sectionIf we removed your Card or took action against your Account and you think we got it wrong, email [email protected] within 30 days after the decision, with "Appeal" in the subject line. Include the Card's text or the decision you are appealing, when it happened, the email address on your Account, and why you think the decision was wrong. A person will review your appeal, and we aim to answer within 14 days. If we reverse our decision, we restore the Card or lift the suspension.
17. Reporting
Link to this section17.1 Reporting by email
Link to this sectionTo report a Card or a person, email [email protected] with the Card's text (or a screenshot or its share link), roughly when you saw it, and why you are reporting it. You do not need an Account. A person reviews every report. When reported content breaks these rules, we act within 24 hours of receiving the report, by removing the content and taking action against the account that posted it, up to a permanent ban (section 15). We do not tell the author who reported them.
- If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 first.
- For an intimate image or video shared without consent, use our Intimate Image Removal process.
- For copyright problems, use our Copyright Policy.
- For content that sexually exploits a child, you can also report directly to NCMEC's CyberTipline or by calling 1-800-843-5678.
17.2 Not available yet: reporting and blocking in the App
Link to this sectionYou cannot report a Card or block another Member in the App yet. When in-app reporting launches, you will be able to report a Card from the App; those reports will count toward hiding a Card automatically, as section 14.1 describes; and we will not show the Card's author or our moderators who reported it. When blocking launches, you will be able to block another Member, and this policy will explain what blocking does.
18. Crisis resources
Link to this section- If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911.
- If you are thinking about suicide or self-harm, or are worried about someone, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, which is free, confidential and available at any time.
- You can also text HOME to 741741 to reach Crisis Text Line.
- Outside the United States, contact your local emergency services.
Jurvo is not a crisis service (Terms section 10).
19. Changes to this policy
Link to this sectionWe may update this policy. When we do, we will post the new version on the Site and change the date shown at the top of it. Material changes follow section 26 of the Terms.
