Summary (not legally binding). Washington's My Health My Data Act and Nevada's consumer health data law require this policy. Jurvo is not a health service, but you may write about your health in a Card, and that is consumer health data. This policy lists the consumer health data we collect and why, where it comes from, who we share it with, and how to use your rights. We do not sell consumer health data.

1. Who this policy is from

This Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy is from PuredLab LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company (registration no. 0008109479) (we, us or our), which operates Jurvo: the Jurvo app for iOS (the App) and our website at jurvo.me (the Site). It covers consumer health data, meaning personal information that is linked or reasonably linkable to you and that identifies your past, present or future physical or mental health status, as Washington's My Health My Data Act and Nevada law define it. A Card is a dilemma with two options posted in the App, and a Vote is a choice between those options.

2. Consumer health data we collect, and how we use it

  • Health information you include in a Card you post. If you write about your physical or mental health in a Card, for example a condition, symptoms, treatment, medication, pregnancy, sexual or reproductive health, gender-affirming care, or substance use, we collect it as part of the Card. We use it to publish your Card, collect Votes on it, show its result, include it in lists, the archive and share images, and review it for safety and for compliance with our rules.
  • The category and mood you choose for a Card. Choosing the Health & Body category, or a mood such as "Burned out" or "Numb", for a Card you post may say something about your health. We use these choices for the same purposes as the Card.
  • Results of our automated checks. Before a Card you post is published, our automated checks read its text. One of them looks for language suggesting that the writer may be thinking about suicide or self-harm. Its list of phrases is switched on only after qualified experts have reviewed it, and until then it does not match anything. When it matches, we use the result only to show the writer support resources instead of publishing the Card. We store neither the Card nor any record of the match that is linked to the writer: our server records a log line that names the matched rule but not the writer's account, and keeps it for up to 7 days.
  • The high-risk marker. A Card can carry a marker showing that it is about a sensitive subject, such as self-harm, which keeps it out of lists and the archive. We use the marker only for that purpose. Our systems do not set it today.
  • Category preferences inferred from your Votes. We work out which categories you prefer from the Cards you Vote on, which may include the Health & Body category. We use this only to order the Cards we show you, and we do not store it.
  • Health information in emails you send us. If you write to us about your health, we use it only to answer you and handle your request.

3. Where this information comes from

  • You: the Cards you write, the categories and moods you choose, and the emails you send us.
  • Our systems: the results of our automated checks, the high-risk marker and your inferred category preferences, which we derive from what you write and how you Vote.

4. Consumer health data we share, and who we share it with

  • The Cards you post, including any health information in them and their category and mood, are shown to everyone who uses the App, at your direction. Public Cards show your nickname; anonymous Cards do not.
  • All of the categories in section 2 are processed for us by our cloud hosting and database providers, Supabase, Inc. and Amazon Web Services, Inc., which host and run the App's servers.
  • Health information in emails you send us is processed for us by our email routing provider, Cloudflare, Inc., and by our email mailbox provider.
  • Any of the categories in section 2 may be disclosed to government authorities, courts or other parties when the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order.

We do not share consumer health data with any affiliate.

5. Your rights, and how to use them

You have the right to:

  • confirm whether we collect, share or sell your consumer health data;
  • access it, including a list of all third parties and affiliates with which we have shared it, with an email address or other online way to contact each of them;
  • withdraw your consent to our collection and sharing of it;
  • have it deleted, including from our archives and backups, and have us tell the processors and third parties we shared it with to delete it too. Deletion includes the Cards you posted that contain your consumer health data: we delete them instead of keeping them without your nickname; and
  • appeal our decision on your request.

To use these rights, email [email protected] with the subject line "Consumer health data request", from the email address on your Jurvo account if you have one, and tell us which right you want to use. You do not need to create an account to make a request. We will verify your request, for example by asking you to reply from that address. We will complete your request within 45 days of receiving it, however long verification takes. If we reasonably need more time, we may extend this once by up to 45 more days, and we will tell you why within the first 45 days. If we cannot verify your request, we will tell you so within the same time. A request to delete consumer health data, including the Cards that contain it, does not wait for the 30-day window on our Delete your account page. Requests are free up to twice in any 12 months.

If we decline your request, we will explain why. You can appeal by replying to our decision, or by emailing [email protected] with the subject line "Consumer health data appeal". We will answer your appeal in writing within 45 days, explaining our decision. If we deny your appeal, you can contact the Washington State Attorney General or the Nevada Attorney General.

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on the Site and change the date shown at the top of it. If the change is material, we will also tell you by email to the address on your Jurvo account or by a notice in the App before it takes effect, and where the law requires, we will ask for your consent first.
